An open note to any Soldiers that are “uncomfortable” being yelled at:

I am not scared of you; if you’re uncomfortable, I‘m doing my job - so either fix yourself, or quit. I will not fall for your games, and your tears do nothing but piss me off.

This is why I’m not scared:

I am a four-time combat veteran.

I have been shot at, knocked around by IEDs, and looked in the eyes of the most dangerous men in Iraq.

I have sat with Generals, Sergeants Major, Department of State officials, and have personally briefed both General Petraeus and General Casey.

I have been interviewed by CMT, CNN, and the AP, and frankly, the media scares me more than bullets.

Finally:

I have dealt fairly with all Soldiers, male and female, for the past 18 years, and have never received a complaint from any of them - not one.

Any implication you might make that I am sexist is laughable - my ex-MP/JAG/combat veteran Mother would kick my ass.

So deal with it - Soldier on, cowboy (or girl) up, embrace the suck, and do what the hell you’re told, when you’re told, and shut the hell up.

Wow...it's been a while!

Title says it all.

So, what's happened in the past three years?

Another tour in Afghanistan (more to follow on that, maybe).

Reassignment to Germany.

Promotion to Staff Sergeant.

Still love my dog and wife.

Been a while...

Well, folks, it's been a while. Let me sum up the past month or so - Eat, sleep, work, rinse, repeat.

That's not to say that there hasn't been some breaks in the monotony. For example, Toby Keith came and visited. Unfortunately, I was off duty when he arrived and was misinformed about his schedule while he was in the area (I had planned to see him while he was in our work area and I arrived about 2 hours after he left).

We had a conference with the Iraqi JAGs. Left me tell you folks, if there is anything more horrifying than a roomful of lawyers, it's a roomful of JAGs from several countries and a laptop with powerpoint slides.

To tell the truth, I'm pretty proud of how we did with this conference. My office and I coordinated travel, meals, on-site transportation, presentations, translations, and living arrangements. As you might be able to tell by the photo, we had a lot of folks to keep track of. It was like herding cats half the time.

Finally, I've been on R&R leave. I went home to see Mrs. USGP and the pup. It's been more fun than mortal man should be allowed. After nine months in the desert, it was nice to come back to where it was green and see my family.

So, that's about it, boys and girls. I'll be posting more often, I hope! :)

Reaffirmed belief in our civilization:

I have a reaffirmed belief in our civilization.  How did this happen, you ask?   Not through any large (or small) scale change in any person or persons here.  Not because someone in the unit has suddenly developed a little common freaking courtesy (see my Thank You Letter).   To tell the truth, people are still people no matter what.  And getting the minority of inconsiderate bastards to wake up and face their actions is just as difficult as always.   But I digress.

Mrs. USGP sent me a care package the other day.  Now this was a particularly good care package, in that it had all my favorite things.   Microwave meals, OJ, Arizona Tea, newly released DVDs, etc.  But what's this?  Great Googa Mooga!   I have been "out of the net" for a while, I'll admit.  But when did we develop self-heating coffee drinks?  I mean, Good Golly Miss Molly!!!   And it was good!

This has reaffirmed my faith in humanity.  If we can develop self-heating coffee, there is no way we can fail.   Nope.  This is the pinnacle of civilization.  All of human history has led to this moment.   Greatest invention ever.  The wheel? A footnote.  Sliced bread? Come on.

Aliens will arrive, be astounded by our mastery of the self-heating coffee, and cower before us.

Ok, so maybe I'm a little over-enthusiastic about this little device.  But who can blame me?   Really?

Later Folks!

In my own defense...

Bob wrote a post recently about my "Addiction" to a game - Nintendogs.

First things first. I am not addicted. I can quit anytime I want to. I can handle it. I don't need help from anyone. Leave me alone!

Now then: I really like this game. In the absence of my own dog, it's nice to come "home" and taking care of something that has unconditional love for you. Sure it's a game, just circuits, wires and software, but anyone who has played Nintendogs can tell you that it's very, very realistic. (You even need to take your dog for walks, and when you do, he/she will "relieve" themselves along the way. And god forbid you don't clean up after them!)

As for Bob's comment about "rocket packs", well there aren't any rocket packs, but there are various accessories that you can dress your pooch up in. I currently have in my inventory all kinds of collars and headpieces (hats, lions mane, reindeer antlers, etc). And the toys! Whoohoo, do I have pet toys.

Anyways, before I go on too long and everyone thinks that I'm some kind of pyscho, let me just say that I enjoy the video game and I am not addicted. I'm not. Really.

Read this, if you dare...

The following is a letter of “Thank You’s” to people that remind me why I think society is crumbling.
(If you cannot distinguish sarcasm from reality, read no further)

To the Soldiers/Officers/Civilians of [Deleted so I don’t get in freaking trouble],

Thank you. Thank you for reminding why it is that I am planning to live on a deserted island and alone, like a hermit.

Specifically;

To the Inconsiderate Bastard(s) that continually spills coffee throughout day in the walkway that I am responsible for cleaning – Thank you. Thank you for reminding me that being an inconsiderate bastard is not a one time, single event thing, but a lifestyle and a daily battle to remember to be inconsiderate. Thank you for ignoring the multiple signs asking you, hell! I even used the word “Please”, to clean up after yourself, as wet coffee is easier to clean than dried coffee stains. Thank you.

To the folks that yesterday, while I was sweeping a large common area, walked through the dirt piles. Not around, not over, but through, ensuring that you tracked dirt through the areas that I had already swept. I am particularly thankful that you ensured that you crossed all lines of rank, making sure that it was Officer, NCO, and Lower Enlisted. That fact reminded me that being an inconsiderate bastard knows no boundries.

To the unidentified individual who, while I was in the process of cleaning a latrine, came in while I was getting trash bags for the trashcan, and took a large dump in the stool and “forgot” to flush. Thank you. Thank you for reminding me that, even though it is possible to train domesticate animals to flush after themselves, only a human being is inconsiderate enough to refuse to.

To the people who leave empty water boxes in a pile next to the full boxes, I thank you. Thank you for showing me that it can be ok for a person to lack the consideration to carry an empty box to a trashcan or to the dumpster. Thank you. I would like to add to this group, the people that will throw a paper towel next to a trashcan, but cannot be bothered to pick it up and put it into the can if they miss. Thank you.

To the people who continually walk through the area where I sleep, yelling to each other, slamming doors, playing loud music, and generally ensuring that a person cannot have a quiet moment, thank you. Without you, I might be able to get an uninterrupted 4-5 hours of sleep, and god knows that would be too much to ask for. I might even be in a good mood once in a freaking while.

To the re-enlistment office that is located right near to my work-space, thank you for ignoring my repeated requests for information, both emails and letters. Without your input and answering of simple questions, such as “Is it true that a bonus is being offered for my job”, I might have been convinced to re-enlist, even to stay at a unit that I dislike. Thank you, for without you ignoring me, you might have been able to keep a motivated and qualified Soldier.

To the person that stole my pen, the pen that I have always considered my “lucky” pen, after I left it on my desk, hoping that it would still be there when I came back to work, thank you. Thank you for reminding me of the Army’s unofficial motto – “Anything that ain’t bolted down, is mine.” Thank you for ensuring that I lock up anything I would like to keep in my possession for more than a few hours.

Thank you.

SGT USGP

Took another test - What Fantasy Character are You?

Took another Personality Test - Turns out I'm, doom doom doom, a Dwarf!

Here's what the test had to say about me:

"Strong, stout, hearty and hale. You're someone everyone likes, except the snooty refined types, and they suck anyway. In battle, you can bust heads like no one's business and take your lumps better than anyone. Of course, you end up suffering from a less-than-suave personality, but what does that matter? You either value gold and riches, or friendship above all. Though you don't often lead a group, you don't follow anyone who doesn't stack up. In addition to being able to drink anyone under the table, you also like to craft things, from statues to swords. Make me a wicked claymore, would you? There are two ways to interpret this race: you may be a greedy, selfish brute or a selfless, daring warrior. What do you make of yourself? "

WhooHoo!

A Present for Bob

Bob, Thought you might want to see the Regimental Song from a REAL Cav unit. Not like those other ones that I could name, but won't. :-)

Allons – The 11th ACR Song

We are the Blackhorse Troopers, the finest in the land,
We fight for right and use our might to free our fellow man.

Our girls wear yellow ribbons, as pretty as can be,
They’re troopers too, and loyal through: We’re in the Cavalry.

Allons, Allons, The Pride Of Cavalry,
The Best Damn Regiment That You Will Ever See.

In Nineteen Hundred Zero One, the regiment was born,
Our destiny to serve and fight on far-off foreign shores.

The Philippines and Cuba, our troopers won their spurs,
Then chased the bandit Villa, Southern borders to secure.

Allons, Allons, The Pride Of Cavalry,
The Best Damn Regiment That You Will Ever See.

Parading our black horses on the beach at Monterey,
Then sadly trading chargers in for mounts that don’t eat hay.

The great crusade in Europe, now iron cavalry,
We rolled across fields of France to win the victory.

Allons, Allons, The Pride Of Cavalry,
The Best Damn Regiment That You Will Ever See.

In Vietnam, once more we fought, in monsoon and in mud,
Long years of war, though others quit, no Blackhorse troopers would.

The Blackhorse patch meant courage: we piled on fast and hard and left unbowed for Germany to stand freedom’s guard.

Allons, Allons, The Pride Of Cavalry,
The Best Damn Regiment That You Will Ever See.

Patrols along the lonely trace of freedom’s far frontier,
Our vigilance rewarded after years of sweat and tears.

November 11th, in Eighty-Nine, the Iron Curtain falls
With the Blackhorse Troopers there to witness liberty for all.

Allons, Allons, The Pride Of Cavalry,
The Best Damn Regiment That You Will Ever See.

The Philippines to Al-Kuwait, in jungle or in sand,
The Regiment will be there when our country makes a stand.

Our guidons raised in honor, our glasses held on high,
Allons and on toward victory, in glory, live and die.

Allons, Allons, The Pride Of Cavalry,
The Best Damn Regiment That You Will Ever See.

Once the protector of Europe, now we train the world,
Down Langford Lake though Whale Gap, our victory is assured.

Masters of maneuver, we know the desert sand,
The Bluefor comes 12 times a year, to make a futile stand.

Allons, Allons, The Pride Of Cavalry,
The Best Damn Regiment That You Will Ever See.

For those who are interested, Allons translates as "Let's Go". There will be more stanzas added soon, as this unit recently redeployed from Iraq.

A Quick Thank You

I recently received several packages from the good people at Operation: Military Pride. Now, the responsible thing to do would be to send a thank you to each and every person who was kind enough to send things to me and other Soldiers. Unfortunately, I simply don’t have the gumption to do that. What can I say, folks? I don’t write thank you letters to my own family (sorry, family!), so getting up the motivation to write these people is beyond me. That being said, this is an open letter to all of them and you.

Thanks for the items you have sent to me and my fellow Soldiers. I/We appreciate everything you have sent to us. I personally get the most enjoyment out of the food items and socks. The Post Exchange doesn’t always stock good food, and getting to the chow hall on a regular basis is often difficult. And, I can always use more socks! You’d be surprised how quickly socks wear out or get uncomfortable.

Thanks for the DVDs, magazines, puzzle books, card games, hand held video games, cookies, letters, cards, candy, and everything else that has been sent. I speak for all of us when I say getting a box when you’re not expecting it and seeing the time and effort that you all have put into it brings a feeling of pride, and knowing that you all care enough to support us is great!

So, in conclusion, Thanks!

(See why I don’t write letters very often?)

Stupidity in Action...

My wife brought this to my attention today while we were chatting.

Anti-gay activists to picket service at Post

Now, after reading the article, I found myself confused as hell. I read the related articles also, just to get a better feel of this idiot's message, and I still cannot grasp it.

Let me see if I can get this straight…this reverend, a Christian preacher, supported by his family, is protesting gays "taking over the government" (I think the phrase that stood out in my mind is "They turned America over to fags; they're coming home in body bags.") by saying that God, the Christian God, is instructing insurgents to kill Soldiers using IEDs ("God's weapon of choice is IEDs"?!?). And he/they is/are doing this at Soldier's funerals and memorial services?

There are so many things wrong with this situation that I'm not even sure where to begin, but let's try, shall we?

1) A preacher, that, ostensibly, should be teaching a message of Christ's love and living his life as an example of that love, picketing funerals and memorials of Soldiers, a time when the Soldier's family has enough to deal with.

2) Gays are taking over the government? News to me. Seems to me I remember a short time ago that the government got into a fracas with the Gay Rights movement over gay marriages. Did that ever get resolved? Did Soldiers get involved and tell people that they had to allow Bill and Steve to get married and if they didn't like it, too bad? How about this? According to Yourcongress.com, there are NO openly gay members of the Senate, and 0.7% (that's right, percent) of the House of Representatives (leaving, for the class at large, 99.3% as "Straight"). How about that? The "Gays" are taking over government with their less than one percent of the votes.

3) Let's keep this one short; Christian God – predominately Islamic insurgency. 'Nuff said.

4) I would figure God, as all powerful and all knowing as he is, would have a better weapon of choice than IEDs. Let's think about that for a second; IEDs, which randomly kill innocent civilians, women and children, are the "weapon of choice" of a loving God? I'm leaving this one alone, I would go off on a tangent and produce nothing.

5) Backtracking a little…Why is he protesting the military, specifically, in this case, the 101st Airborne Division? Hasn't he done any research before he plans theses things? Does he not realize that 1) the Army discourages homosexual behavior (we separate openly gay Soldiers from the military) and 2) the 101 st has the one of the highest rate of homosexual discharges in the Army? Logically, he should think that we are on the same side. The military does not seek out homosexuals to persecute and prosecute, but the military does not condone homosexual behavior ( Don't Ask, Don't Tell, anyone?).

Me, personally? I don't have a problem with a Soldier being homosexual, as long as they do their job and don't let their sex life get in the way of the job. Oh, wait, that's what I expect of all Soldiers, no matter what their sexual orientation is.

I think if I ran into this guy on my way to a memorial, I think I'd have to accidentally kick his ass. Not too much, just enough that he might re-think the whole hitting the military family below the belt while they're in a delicate state of mind just so he can get a little airtime in the news. Let's hope, oh gosh I hope, that this guy is still doing his little act when I get home and I get a chance to meet him, with a baseball bat, preferably.

Have a good one, folks.

Videogames and Children

Here we go, into the mind of a self-professed "common sense" genius. Me, of course. Shut up Bob. I know what you’re thinking.

With all the hoopla surrounding the newest lawsuit pending against Rockstar for the well-known "Hot Coffee" mod to Grand Theft: San Andreas, I thought it might be time for me to say this: WHY THE HELL ARE WE BLAMING THE GAME COMPANIES?!?!?

The box for the game was, originally, clearly marked with a M rating. Clearly. Look at the picture. Bottom left on the front. See it? Big M. All together, now, class…what does M mean in the Electronic Software Rating Board (ESRB) rating scheme? Mature, 17+. If you did not know the answer, you should research it. If you have children, and you did not know the answer? You should research it before you buy any game. And if you were one of those wonderfully “caring” parents who was shocked and dismayed by the game and feel the need to sue someone, after you purchased it without researching ANY of the issues involved in video games (i.e. the ESRB), come on over here so I can treat you to a little thing I call the “Smack of Common Sense.” (If you’re really litigious, I’ll even use the Hammer of “You’re Too Stupid Too Live”. YAY!)

Rockstar, in an attempt to placate the masses, recalled the game and gave it an AO (as in Adults Only) rating, which changed the age group that this game is appropriate for from an immature 17, to an adult and fully capable 18. Hmmmm. Think about that for a second. The game was intended for 17 and up, and now it’s for 18 and up. One year older, and the little angels are so much better able to handle the pressures of playing a game that has “sexual content.”

Now, in this particular case, you would have to “hack” the code in the game to even access the “scene” (known as modding, or mods) or use a cheat device in the Playstation2 version, to see the scene which is pretty soft-core, compared to what any person could see on cable television. So what we have here is a game, which should not be sold to children or purchased by their parents, requiring a smattering of programming knowledge, for what amounts to something no worse than a bad episode of Sex and the City (is there a good one?). Oh, wait, the difference is that you control the character during the scene. Except you do that throughout the game, to include the parts where you shoot police officers and run over pedestrians, which does not require a mod and can be done within the first 10 seconds of the game. Oops, you guys forgot about that, huh?

Now, we have the City of L.A., L.A., the craziest town in the craziest state in the United States, the home of celebrities like Paris Hilton (remember her? “Porn” star, reality TV debutante?), Tom Cruise (there's a poster child for sanity), and cable television, filing a class-action lawsuit against Rockstar for when they “engaged in unfair business practices by hiding pornographic material in a game which received an M rating” (emphasis is mine), and supposedly marketing the game in “in a fashion that encourages the creation and use of mods.” (again, emphasis is mine) Huh? I don’t remember the commercial that said “Oooo, play this game with mods. Make your own. Impress your friends.” Maybe I missed that one. As for the pornographic material? Let me sure I understand this - it's ok if you make a game with blood and guts, smashing up property and running down pedestrians, but the second your child sees a digital character "getting nasty" with another digital character, you want to sue?

Let’s reiterate. 1) M rating, requiring someone 17 years old or older to purchase a game that has; 2) A scene that requires modifying or using a third party device to get access to; 3) What amounts to cartoons engaging in soft-core dryhumping. And we're blaming the gaming industry? Let’s put the blame where it should go. Parents, if they bought it for the little tykes, or retailers, if they sold it to minors.

Everywhere I went, looking for information on this subject, had the same thing to say. Games bad. Game companies bad. Children good. Parents good. Bull. Kids are what you make them. Parents need to get more involved. And don’t give me that “party line” that parents just don’t have the time, wah, wah. I say again, bull. Want to know how long it took me to find the ESRB rating for San Andreas, as well as an explanation of what the rating means? Any guesses? Less than 2 minutes. If you, as a parent, don’t have 2 minutes, let’s say you have a REALLY bad connection and make that 5 minutes, to check out what your kids are asking you for, you really need to re-prioritize.

Ok, assuming that you cannot afford a computer, and you don’t know where your local library is (most libraries now have computers and internet), do you know what retailers and the ESRB have done? They have provided BIG OLE signs that tells you, the consumer, what each letter in the rating means. Ok, so you bought the game in your local dimestore. No signs, no storeowner that is knowledgeable, no computers or internet. Where could a caring parent go to find out about the game their children want?

Oh, wait. THE BOX ITSELF. What do we have here?Gasp! On the back! There’s another place where there is a rating, and it has an explanation of WHY THE GAME GOT THE RATING!!! Hmmm. Why did we get this rating – oh yeah. Many things, but in particular - “Strong Sexual Content”. Gasp!

Another thing that gets my goat about this issue is this; everyone blames games and game companies for increased violent behavior in children. My patootie. Numbers of juvenile crimes are at an all time low. The only difference is you see more news stories about it. I've researched this issue before, and I looked around again before I posted this on my blog. The best case I could find for parents and watchdogs to believe games are dangerous is a website called “Killology.org” . Don’t worry, this isn’t a “gross-out” site, this website is about the media being dedicated to teaching children to kill. Ok, there's more involved, but I'm not going to get too in depth about it here. I;m pointing this one out because the shrink is ex-military, and actually seems to know what he is talking about, unlike the vast majority of talking heads that repeat the same thing over and over. Even then, his opinion was based on observing young children (6 and under) playing and witnessing games being played.

Let’s see here, so little 5 y/o Billy wants San Andreas, and overworked Mommy and Daddy buy it for him. Whoops! The game is rated for 17 and up. Oh, thinks Mommy and Daddy, it can’t be that bad, it’s a videogame. “Oh my gosh! There’s strong sexual content, what were the game manufacturers thinking, putting this content is this game?” (oh, wait, I just remembered, how would little Billy get access to this content without hacking or using a cheat device? Maybe Uncle Bob the hacker, helped.) “We need to protect little Billy. Let’s sue Rockstar. They made the game. Never mind the fact that we ignored all the warnings and bought this game. Never mind that if we had bought little Billy a copy of Playboy or a carton of Marlboros, which also have warning that they’re not for children, we could go to jail or lose little Billy. Never mind that, that makes no difference at all. Let’s sue the game designer too. And the retailer, even though he told us that this game wasn’t for children. Who else could we get?”

I can hear it now - “But USGP, I buy my children games like this because they beg me to. I can’t tell my little angels no, they deserve my love and all the material goods that I can afford to give them.” “It’s the gaming industry’s responsibility to make sure that, when if I’m too stupid to do it myself, my children can’t get their grubby little hands on things that might hurt them.” “Won’t you think of the children, oh, why won’t someone think of the children?”

Bah. That’s all I have to say right now. I’m too disgusted to continue.

Fiddler's Green

I'm feeling a little maudlin and decided to post this.

Ever since my first duty station, this poem has had a special place in my heart.

Fiddler's Green

Halfway down the trail to hell
In a shady meadow green,
Are the souls of all dead troopers camped
Near a good old-time canteen.
And this eternal resting place
Is known as Fiddler's Green.
Marching past, straight through to hell,
The infantry are seen,
Accompanied by the Engineers, Artillery and Marine,
For none but the shades of Cavalrymen
Dismount at Flddlers' Green.
Though some go curving down the trail,
To seek a warmer scene,
No trooper ever gets to Hell
Ere he's emptied his canteen,
And so rides back to drink again
With friends at Fiddlers' Green.
And so when man and horse go down
Beneath a saber keen,
Or in a roaring charge or fierce melee
You stop a bullet clean,
And the hostiles come to get your scalp,
Just empty your canteen,
And put your pistol to your head
And go to Fiddlers' Green.

Dreams and Promises

I just found out that one of the Iraqi Police (IP) guys that I used to work with at my last AO got himself killed.

The reason for the title of this post is this; he dreamed of being an artist. He was pretty good at it, and was going to Art classes at the University. Think about that for a minute. An Iraqi that was going to college to be an artist. If that doesn't tell you that we are doing something important over here, I don't know what will.

We worked together several days a week for a long time. He was probably one of the nicest local guys I had ever met. We traded items, I'd give him a D-ring (an item usually used in rappelling, used by us to attach items to our gear), he'd give me a set of "prayer beads" (plastic beads on a string). I'd give him a cigarette, he'd give me a soda. Little things.

I promised him that if he ever became a "big" artist and came to the States, I'd come to one of his shows. Being as I've never gone to an art showing, that the kind of promise I never expected to keep. But he appreciated the effort, and now I'll never know if he would have contacted me and let me know when and where his art was going to be appreciated.

He recently quit working with the IPs so he could concentrate on his studies. And no sooner did he leave work, than he gets killed by a cowardly bastard that didn't even have the guts to face my friend when he killed him.

That's the kind of people we face over here. Cowardly little f*cks that kill a person because they "Protect and Serve" (that's not the IP motto, but it does fit). Bastards that attack G.I.'s who are over here to help them. Ungrateful ballsacks that couldn't give a crap less about what has improved in their country, they want the "bad old days" back.

Mixed feelings, much? Yeah, I guess so. This place has the same problems as everywhere else in the world. Good people, bad people, it's all the same, everywhere you go.

I gotta go.

MORE thoughts on Work Ethic

As you can probably tell, this is a sore point for me.

I've gotten this sad disease from my parents, a genetic disorder of the worst kind, you might say. It's called a work ethic, and it's caused me more problems than it's solved. Mostly because when I see someone or something that does not demonstate this, I usually point it out. In my most "diplomatic" manner.

This time, I've got a senior ranking enlisted person (a Sergeant Major), writing notes to everyone about cleaning of the common areas. I don't have a problem with that, what I do have a problem with is the "issue" he points out. Apparently, someone has been blowing snot rockets on the bathroom walls. Ok. That's just so wrong in so many ways.

The main question I have is, why? Ewww, to say the least. If you can't be bothered to grab a piece of toilet paper to blow your nose on, you're to lazy to live, and I'll be more than happy to hit you on the head with a very large hammer.

And second, (I direct this to the snot master(s)) what the hell is wrong with you people? I can't imagine someone ever, and I mean ever, being so in-goddam-considerate as to do something like that, when you should know that someone is going to have to clean it up eventually. Nasty bastard(s).

Now, moving on, I have problems with another group of people. This is the group of people who use paper towels in the latrine or shower shelters and leave the towel on the floor or in the sink. Now, each one of the shelters has a LARGE trash can, and so anyone who can't take the 3 dag-gum steps to the trash can is someone who needs to get castrated with a rusty spoon. You might say that's a bit much for this type of incident, but I'm really thinking this is a necessary step. See, people who that lazy need to be stopped. Call it a deterrant. And, it will keep future generations safe to walk into the latrine and not retch in disgust from the nastiness. Think about it. Am I really so wrong?

Well, that's it for the rant for today. Glad I got that out of my system. ;-)

New Favorite WebComic

Yep, surfing the Net has given me a new favorite WebComic.

For your (re)viewing pleasure, I give you:

Chasing the Sunset

Take a look, read it all, it’s really good.

And, it's a little more PC than Something Positive (which I still enjoy, thank you very much!)

An elf maiden that isn't so helpless, a vegetarian dragon (cute, ain't he?), a boy (elf) searching for his lost father, and a mischievous fairy. I'm in.

The original picture of the dragon here had a white background, which I didn't like on the Blog, so I spent a couple of minutes coloring it in. Not their fault, mine, if it looks messy.

Have fun!

My Dog

What's the definition of spoiled? When your dog has her own blog. Make that blogs, plural. Check them out, although they haven't been updated lately (shame on you Kitty. Get to work.)

Miss Kitty (on Dogster)

Miss Kitty's Saloon

And yes, I know I named my dog Kitty. Can you blame me? You all should know my sense of humor by now. Sheesh.

Dangdest thing. You know, I just realized (again) I have 6 pictures of my dog (I found two more), and only one of my wife?

Bob sent me this, thought I'd share it with you all.

Sigh. Before and After...

Before my move to this AO.

After the move...

With respect John W. (Yes, I know his real name. And no, I will never refer to him as that. Ever)

I think someone switched my coffee for Decaf....

(Based on a true story. The names have been changed to protect the innocent. Oh, heck. To protect ME!)

snore. zzzzzzzzzzz. snork. zzzzz.

Oh. How long have you been there, sir? I wasn't sleeping, I was just resting my eyes. Really. What time is it? Oh, wow, I was off shift an hour ago. I'm outta here. See you this evening, sir.

I'm Baaaack!

Sorry for not posting for a while there. I was running ragged and hadn't stopped by for a while, then discovered that the communications folks had blocked this site. Bob recently clued me in that it was unblocked again. Yay!

I'm sure I'm going to regret it, but I got a bus driver's license now. After taking a short driving test, there I was, with a shiny new piece of paper that said, in essence, "You're screwed." See, what has happened to me in the past is, once I get authorized to drive a certain vehicle...I end up driving that vehicle exhaustively. Several years ago, I got a 5 ton license (meaning I could drive vehicles with a payload capacity of 5 tons). Next thing I know, I'm on a 3 month detail driving that 5 ton all over the peninsula of Korea, delivering furniture.

I have a bad feeling about this...;-)
